It’s been a little while since RIM had a big device release. By big, I mean in terms of function and power. The 8900 Curve was a basic phone, made to look good, nothing more. The Pearl Flip should be renamed Pearl Flop.

iPhone Stuff
Now I’ve been pretty harsh on the iPhone, that’s clear for my absolute hatred for Apple and co-founder Steve Jobs. But to make sure I knew what I was talking about, and not just relying on the limited use I had with the device, and any hate sites on the Internet. Because trust me, there are a few.
Anyway, I bought a bloody iPhone, just to test it. Needless to say, I was quite surprised an impressed. However, it’s strong points, in my opinion, do not at all cater for business users.
Email
Most business’ still require a true push email client. Like the BlackBerry. The iPhone needs to connect at certain intervals, so go and check your inbox. Much like your mail client at home if you aren’t running an exchange system. So still not quite there, and from all views, will never compete with the BlackBerry.
Ease of Use
Typically, touch screen mobiles can be somewhat annoying to type on. Not so with the iPhone, however, one handed typing is out, which is a big deal for a lot of users. Also, it takes a lot more concentration that a regular phone, as you need to look harder at the screen to make sure your thumb is hitting the right icon. Not a big deal for some, but certainly for others.
Where is excels
Simply, the iPhone dominates mobile applications, games and of course, browsing. While I don’t agree with the App Store, and the control Apple has over what I can do with my phone, that’s easily overlooked by the amount of apps on it. OVer 70,000 I’m told.
Jailbreaking the phone give even more functionality, and means you can make the phone look and feel just how you want it. And of course, for the pirates among us. You can pirate anything too.
So who wins? Well for business, the BlackBerry still comes out on top. They simply work exactly how people want them to work. For a fun mobile device, the iPhone is the clear winner.
So I guess the statement I have used all along still stands. If you want a business phone, get a BlackBerry. If you want a toy, get an iPhone. It’s a pretty neat toy too.
Blackberry: US and Canada, the rest don’t matter
For too long now, American and in this case Canadian companies decide that the rest of the world’s population doesn’t matter to them. It’s not the first time RIM has shafted their International users, to focus only on their own Canadian users, and of course, the United States.
iPhone 3GS – iPhone Fail Revision 3
So the greatest phone to ever grace the Earth has been upgraded, and is full of brand spanking new features. Well they are new for Apple. Everything you can do on an iPhone, was done years ago on other phones. I’ll compare it to my BlackBerry Bold. Feel free to compare it with your phone while you read along.
Mobile Blogging
Now don’t get me wrong. I love blogging and I love my mobile phone(s). But really, is a story so important that you need to blog from a mobile phone? Really?
A few blogs now, the authors blog from ‘in the field’ via their phones. Twitter and Facebook, I can understand. Myspace no, it’s shit, it always has been shit, and always will be shit.
But blogs are a completely different medium, unless you run a two line update blog, in which case I would call your blog shit. Before anyone jumps in, this blog is shit. Deal with it.
In todays world, we are never far from a computer, are we that addicted to our mobile phones that we can’t wait till we get home, use the work computer, use a mates computer, use out laptop etc.?
I don’t think I’m going to go into the amount of details, lack of spelling and grammar, and I’m especially not going to talk about the difficulty you are putting yourself through by blogging via a mobile. QWERTY keyboard or not, your readers want to read a decent article, everytime, not a shitty mobile entry. Stop being lame, go to a computer.
Out.
Note: this post was written on a BlackBerry Bold. Because I’m a Hypocritical dickhead.
Addicted to Blackberry
So it turns out I love Blackberry a little too much. So much, that I have more of them that I need. So I decided that I would throw it out there, and get people to think about the silly addictions in their life. Of course I don’t mean drugs and that sort of stuff, I mean things that are just, silly.
Mobile Blogging
It’s taken some time, but I can now blog on the go.
I have just installed a new plugin that allows me to reant where eber I may roam. So long as there is mobile phone coverage.
Needless to say, I am quite pleased with this. And it’s easy for me to spurt random junk. Three BlackBerrys.
