The Putty Road Memorial

The Putty Road is one of the most well known roads to truckies in Australia.  It’s also a road which has caused much heartache.

The official opening of the memory on May 15, 2010 is expected to see at least 200 people attend.

If you wish to have a plaque placed on the wall, or would like further information about the memorial opening, and the memorial on Sunday 16, there are contact details below.

Hotels In Area

Quality Inn (http://www.choicehotels.com.au/hotels/hotel?hotel=AU586) will do a cheaper rate for people attending the opening. Rates Ok.

Quest hotel (http://www.questsingleton.com.au/) for 2 or 3 bedroom apartments plit between a few people is pretty well priced. This place is 4.5 star and is less than a year old. Very nice.

Country Motor Inn (http://www.countrymotorinn.com.au/). They won’t do a special deal, but accomdation is very cheap anyway.

20 odd minutes out in Branxton. Branxton House Motel (http://www.branxtonhousemotel.com.au/) will do a good price if you’re going for the opening. They seem pretty negotiable on prices too which was something not seen often now.

    Hey Nashy,

Great to see they are doing something like this however it is sooo sad to see that 2 of the men (including your dad) lost their lives at only 30.

RIP – Robert Cameron Nash, John Partland Butler & Paul Irwin Murphy

  2. Bailey Nash says:

There are another three plaqes on the other side also. There were apparently 36 killed in 1987 too.

  3. Phil Essam says:

Is anything being done to make the roads safer?

  4. Bailey Nash says:

There is now a bypass in place, so the road doesn’t need to be used for all interstate travel.

  5. Bree Sing says:

    Hi Nashy,
I lost my Dad on this road when I was ten and would be honoured to have his name on a plague, what’s required to do so?
    Cheers
    Bree
